My Mission
My mission is to love the Lord with all my heart, all my soul, all my mind, and all my strength- and to be obedient to His call to serve His flock. As a Diabetes Health Coach, I live this out by walking alongside my fellow diabetics helping them steward their health with grace, purpose, and intention.
Let me nurture and support you, and provide Christ-centered diabetes resources that lead you toward the fullness of health with gentle and supportive guidance.
In the very near future, I'll be starting a blog so you can get to know me a little more. For the moment though, see the 'Marie's story' page to find out about my journey as well as my Mum & Dad's diabetes journeys.
It always interests me how other diabetics manage on a daily basis, so I thought I would share with you what I do as you're likely as curious about me as I am about you. What we eat is the largest determinant on our blood sugar levels, so I keep things simple so its easier to manage and creates less thinking.
I'm a creature of habit so lunch & snacks on Monday, Wednesday and Friday are always the same, Tuesday and Thursday lunch & snacks are the same but what I’m eating varies week on week so my nutrient intake is varied. Less thinking is helpful for me as I have a busy life on the homestead with the orchard, garden and animals, gym with my lovely husband, part time work, children’s sport and activities, church and related activities, socialising and having fun.
On the weekdays, knowing how much I need to bolus is always easy as there are only two different lunches and two different snacks across the five days and I can prep them a few days ahead so I can grab and go. Weekends are different and I like it that way. If you would like to see what a typical weekly meal plan looks like for my family and I, you can download the free eBook called Too Tired to Decide: Food Fatigue in Diabetes.
Jesus multiplied loaves & fishes, so if bread is good enough for Him, then its good enough for me.
Jesus knew that combining protein and healthy fats (fish) with carbohydrates (bread) would keep blood sugar levels stable. He led by example.
